🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Manchester, 28 - 30 July

Manchester was this year's venue for the international Urban Sketchers' Symposium, So Anne's programme was effectively determined around her attendance at lectures, workshops and social meetings, while I did the sight-seeing, that's when it wasn't too cold or raining.

I was particularly looking forward to visiting the National Football Museum, which I found a bit disappointing.  On the other hand, I really liked the modern (presumably post-WW2) stained glass windows in Manchester Cathedral. I must be getting old!  And the canals were an interesting throw-back to the industrial revolution.

The weather wasn't the only negative - that was no surprise - but the hotel was very poor for a Hilton - it was well-nigh impossible, for example, to get a healthy breakfast.  So we revised our plans, and brought forward our flight to Helsinki by two days.  The Symposium finished on the Saturday evening, and we were on the Sunday morning flight.
